Bill Maher defends Laura Ingraham after David Hogg tweet

Bill Maher doesn’t have to like her to agree with her.
The comedian and talk show host defended Laura Ingraham during his show “Real Time” on Friday night after Parkland survivor David Hogg called for a boycott from her sponsors after she bullied him on Twitter.
“I want to defend Laura Ingraham,” Maher told the audience. "I know it sounds ridiculous, but it has to do with the Parkland kids and guns and free speech.”
“He complains about bullying? That’s bullying!” he continued.
“I have been the victim of a boycott ... I've lost a job as a result. It is wrong. You shouldn’t do this by team, you should do it by principle,” Maher said and then stuck his tongue out to the audience.
Maher’s ABC show “Politically Incorrect” was canceled in 2002 after he claimed that the terrorists on 9/11 were not cowards.
In Friday’s episode, he admitted Ingraham was a “deliberately terrible person” who has said many awful things during her career — which is why he was confused that this was what put her in hot water.

“Really? All of the things Laura Ingraham has said over the years, and this is the straw that broke the camel's back?” Maher said after guest former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer said boycotting is “part of free speech.”
Maher added that it created a “very chilling atmosphere.”
Ingraham came under fire last week after she responded to Hogg’s tweet about not getting accepted into a few universities.
“David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it. (Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA ... totally predictable given acceptance rates.),” she wrote.
Ingraham later apologized and said Hogg should be proud of his actual 4.2 GPA and that she never meant to hurt him or the brave victims of Parkland.
Hogg did not accept her apology and proceeded to call upon her advertisers to drop out from her show.
